Planning for the School Day
Knowing what to expect can help families plan for a smooth school day.
Below you’ll find practical information about:
- Before- and after-school care
- Lunch and snack information
- What students should bring each day
- Attendance information

Before- and After-School Care
Focus Plus Academy will not offer before- or after-school care during the 2026–2027 school year.
Because staff members are preparing for the school day before arrival and completing end-of-day responsibilities after dismissal, we are not able to supervise students outside the scheduled drop-off and pickup windows.
Families should make transportation and childcare arrangements accordingly. As Focus Plus Academy grows, we plan to offer before- or after-school care in the future.
Lunch, Snacks, and Water
Focus Plus Academy does not operate a cafeteria or school lunch program at this time.
Students should bring the food and drinks they will need for the school day, including:
- A packed lunch
- One or more snacks
- A refillable water bottle
Whenever possible, food should be packed in containers the student can open and manage independently. Lunchboxes, reusable containers, and water bottles should be clearly labeled with the student’s name.
Families should notify Focus Plus Academy of any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or related medical needs during the enrollment process and keep the school informed if those needs change.

What Students Should Bring
Students should arrive each day with the materials they need to participate comfortably and successfully in the school day.
This will generally include:
- A backpack
- Lunch, snacks, and a refillable water bottle
- Any assigned books, notebooks, folders, or school materials
- Weather-appropriate clothing for movement and outdoor activities
- Any personal items specifically requested by the school
A more detailed supply list will be provided to enrolled families before the start of the school year.
Medication should only be brought to school according to Focus Plus Academy’s medication and health procedures.
Attendance and Schedule Changes
Consistent attendance helps students benefit from the structure, routines, academic instruction, and support built into the Focus Plus Academy school day.
Families should notify the school as soon as possible when a student will be absent, arrive late, or need to leave early. Whenever possible, appointments and other schedule changes should be planned to minimize missed instructional time.
Enrolled families will receive detailed procedures for reporting absences, late arrivals, and early pickups before the school year begins.
Focus Plus Academy will also communicate directly with families if the school schedule changes because of severe weather, an emergency, or another unexpected circumstance. Detailed attendance and schedule-change policies is located in the student/family handbook.
